Steve FontanaState Representative Steve Fontana (D-North Haven) was first elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1996 to represent the 87th Assembly District, which encompasses the entire town of North Haven, and now is serving in his seventh term. He currently serves as House chairman of the General Assembly's Insurance and Real Estate Committee and as a member of its Transportation and Environment Committees.

Fontana, who works as a title examiner, holds a B.A. degree in Creative Writing from Oberlin College, an M.B.A. degree in Marketing from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, and a J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

On a local level, Fontana serves the town of North Haven as a member of its Board of Selectmen. He also is active in North Haven community groups: he serves as Secretary of the town's Montowese Volunteer Fire Association, as an Honorary Director of the town's Peter's Rock Park Association, and as a member of the local chapter of the Sons & Daughters of Italy.
